The “two” best (yes, TWO) kinds of people on earth are the ones that inspire you and the ones that provide food to you. And yes, there is an overlap between these categories. Also, you seldom have to look for them as they make themselves available to you somehow. Because as I said, they are the best!
I am sure phrases like – “Eat those carrots, they are good for your eyes” or “Today it’s fish for lunch. You know they make you brainy!” – must ring a bell for all of us. These were not mere phrases for luring us into gulping things. These were phrases uttered from the mouths of people that cared. People that had immense faith in us that we definitely would reach for the stars and indeed achieve them.
And then there are folks with whom we converse over a cup of coffee, tea, or even a glass of water for that matter about topics at times light, at times intense, yet decisive. They are the folks that answer questions we never asked. And suddenly, the whole world makes sense. The other side of the tunnel appears bright and clear. Not that we achieve overnight success, but just the feeling of being inspired gives us an inexplicable power. When they say , “If you cannot do it, who else can?” , they mean every word. And their statements do not come with intentions of putting any pressure on us. It is as casual as the glass of water we are having a conversation over.
What can be better than eating and getting inspired at the same time? Those childhood pep talks, and also the adulthood pep talks do make much more sense if there is something to munch on during the talks.
I owe most of my life lessons to eating and listening to people. The nutrition in the food helped me retain things people said to me. True story!
