“In the space between chaos and shape there was another chance.” ~ Jeanette Winterson
I began writing poems as a kid. The little success that I got in the form of being published in the school magazine did not carry much meaning then. I wrote as I pleased. I remember writing a poem consoling myself when I had not fared well in a test, and another when I had got back from watching a circus for the first time ( I haven’t been to a circus ever since) in my life. Such were the rare occasions and moods that prompted me to write.
Years later, after landing in the strange land called the USA, I had so much in my mind but could not count on endless phone calls with parents, the frequency of which diminished for reasons out of our control. Hence, I started a blog where I vented out. I kept at it for a while, but when other pressing commitments came into existence, I retired to a mundane life of technology. And when the mundane translated to frustrations, my writing sword struck again. I began writing on a more serious note. But one hobby was not enough to distract me from the mundane.
I love to eat. I do not remember when and how did I transition from being a snob that loathed nutritious food and seldom stepped into the kitchen, to appreciating food of all kinds. The appreciation and the separation from parents inculcated in me a slow desire to wander into the culinary world. I experimented on self, and I still do. So (almost) every evening, after getting back home when the writer in me was not able to deliver, the cook (and baker) would. I graduated from simple to more demanding recipes. The writer in me faced a slight setback, as the cook (and baker) overpowered. I could not let any of them fade away.
Hence, I married my two moody leisure pursuits – the writer and the cook-cum-baker – and thus came into being this blog in the month of June 2016. In here, you will find my poems (some rants, some not) from not-so-long ago that I migrated over from my old blog (2012 – early 2016). On top of that, I continue to cook fresh and write fresh and present them here to you, in the hope of gaining exposure, appreciation, and criticism alike. The pictures accompanying my posts are my own. Another leisure pursuit of mine is clicking pictures – I am good with anything that does not provide feedback a.k.a people.
P.S. I am a technology consulting professional that moved from a quaint little town (my favorite place on earth, home of 17 years) in Odisha, India to Los Angeles in 2011, enjoyed life in and out of the classroom for two years, and then moved to Indianapolis in 2013 (yes, a braveheart that ditched the California sun for getting a feel of “white Christmas”, that lasted longer than normal that year and the year after). I am fond of flora and fauna (but my love is a wee bit more for dogs). I am fond of and intrigued by mathematics. I like exploring new places as much as I like to stay indoors.
